Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 15, 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of gatherhoods.com and the Gatherhoods app and related services (together, the “Service”), operated by Gatherhoods LLC (“Gatherhoods,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Gatherhoods, and you must provide accurate information, including a verified email address. You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity on your account.

2. What Gatherhoods Is

Gatherhoods is a platform that helps neighbors host and attend small, real-world gatherings — starting with dinners — with people they’re connected to or who’ve been vetted by someone they trust. Gatherhoods verifies real identities via email and provides tools for hosts to review and approve who attends their events, but Gatherhoods does not run background checks and does not guarantee the identity, intentions, or conduct of any user. Approving a guest or accepting an invitation is a decision made by users, not by Gatherhoods.

3. Hosting & Attending Events

  • Hosts are solely responsible for their own events — the venue, the guest list, and anything that happens there. Gatherhoods is not a party to, and does not organize, supervise, or insure, any event.
  • Guests are responsible for their own conduct and decisions, including the decision to attend a dinner hosted by someone they don’t already know well.
  • An event’s exact address is only shared with guests a host has approved, and only once approved.

4. Assumption of Risk

Meeting people in person always carries some risk. By using Gatherhoods, you acknowledge and accept that risk, and you agree that Gatherhoods is not responsible for the conduct, whether online or offline, of any user. Use common sense: meet new connections at first in ways you’re comfortable with, tell someone where you’re going, and report any behavior that concerns you.

5. Community Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against another user.
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate someone else.
  • Use the Service for commercial solicitation, spam, or mass outreach unrelated to hosting or attending a genuine gathering.
  • Circumvent Gatherhoods’ verification, blocking, or reporting systems.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion, with or without notice.

6. Trust & Safety Tools

Gatherhoods provides ways to block and report other users. Blocking is enforced: a blocked user can’t request to join your events or message you. We review reports and may take action including warnings, suspension, or termination, but we don’t promise a particular outcome or timeline for any report.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you post (profile info, photos, messages, ratings). By posting it, you grant Gatherhoods a license to store, display, and use it as needed to operate the Service — for example, showing your profile to a host reviewing your request. Post-event ratings are shared as aggregate/private safety signals, not published as a public star rating.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any event, host, or guest will meet your expectations.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gatherhoods and its officers, employees, and partners won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any injury, loss, or damage arising from an event or interaction with another user, whether that interaction happens on the Service or in person.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Gatherhoods harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your presence poses a safety risk to the community.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [State/jurisdiction to be finalized], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
